Lucky Number Seven for Mercer as he Continues to Dominate Hickory

Hickory, NC(June 1, 2009) -- Members of the media have dubbed him the "New King" of Hickory Motor Speedway and Andy Mercer is doing everything he can to not only live up to that nickname, but is just totally demolishing the competition.

Mercer got the 2009 season off to a sluggish start back in March with a second place finish, but in the seven races since that opening night, he's went for seven straight victories. That equals his seven poles for the 2009 season in just eight NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car races on "America's Most Famous Short Track".

"We just keep getting better. I think the competition has gotten better every week and the only thing keeping us on top week in and week out is the fact that the team has been working so hard," said Mercer following his seventh straight win.

"My team led by my brother, David(Mercer) has been putting in the hours every week just as if we haven't been winning and it's certainly paying off for us. Seven in a row is pretty special, but the bottom line is we know we're going to have to work just as hard to stay ahead of these guys. There aren't any slouches racing here at Hickory, there never has been and we've got our work cut out if we want to win eight in a row."

Mercer is supported by Reliable Fire & Safety, Steele Rubber Products, Performancenter Racing Warehouse, WP Racing Shocks, and Mercer Race Car Engineering. Certainly he's giving his sponsors alot of camera time and publicity as he's been adding win after win to resume at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC.

The racing's heating up at Hickory as we get ready to head into summer and Mercer will be going for win and pole number eight for the 2009 season when the season continues this Saturday night. On tap will be another 50-lap feature for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Cars and Mercer Racing will be ready to tackle the 3/8 mile track once again.
