Hickory, NC(June 9, 2009) -- Andy Mercer only needed 32-laps to capture his ninth win in a row at Hickory Motor Speedway in a rain shortened event.

Mercer has been on fire this year and even an extended rain shower in the area couldn't dampen his spirits or keep him out of victory lane. With the largest field of cars for a regular weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car race at Hickory Motor Speedway in recent memory at 23-cars, Mercer continued to show dominance.

Mercer took home the win after an extended rain shower hit the track under the first caution of the night to extend his win streak to nine after he earlier extended his win streak with pole awards to nine as well. Ten races have been contested on the 3/8 mile bullring and with the lone exception in race number one this season where he lost by less than a car length, Mercer has won them all.

Even a very slick track that was according to Mercer as bad as he's ever seen it couldn't keep him from victory lane as crew chief and brother, David Mercer had the car working great.

"I'm telling you I think we're getting better every week and I think tonight proved that," said Mercer. "The track was as bad as I've ever seen it, I mean it was slick, but the way things turned out it worked out in our favor."

Mercer is supported by Reliable Fire & Safety, Steele Rubber Products, Performancenter Racing Warehouse, WP Racing Shocks, and Mercer Race Car Engineering. Mercer Racing will be back on the track at Hickory Motor Speedway this week before the track takes two weeks off while touring series invade the track. This Saturday night, June 20th the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Cars will compete in a 100-lap race.
