Gastonia, NC(April 23, 2010) -- One week after pulling into victory lane at the historic 3/8 mile Hickory Motor Speedway for the first time in 2010, Andy Mercer looked to repeat his feat and earn win number 42 of his Late Model Stock career.

Mercer would start the day off very strong looking very sporty in practice and turning some heads amongst his competitors. Qualifying went well for Mercer but the car was a little too free as he would place himself second on the starting grid for the 50 lap feature.

Going into the race Mercer felt that he had a car more than capable of contending for the win and almost felt that anything short of a win would be a disappointment. As the race progressed Mercer felt that the car was good but it had a developing feeling of being tight in the center and free on exit of the

corners.

Mercer would run in second all day long, never really able to mount a serious challenge on eventual race winner Kyle Mansch. "I think if we could have gotten a green white checkered finish we might have challenged Kyle or at least made it interesting," said Mercer after the race, "But he was very fast and didn't make any mistakes so congrats to him on his first win."

Andy Mercer and his Mercer Race Car Engineering team will continue the chase for win number 42 this Saturday, April 24 at Hickory Motor Speedway in a 100-lap feature for the Late Model Stock division.
